Come to our monthly Produce with a Purpose class to learn the super-powers of fruit and veggies (for resisting cancer, diabetes, heart disease and more), enjoy a cooking demo and tasting, and boost your wellness. Take home a goodie bag of locally-grown, farm-fresh, organic produce, too. This month’s theme is container garden cuisine: What can you grow in pots, on your patio and in small spaces to add to your fresh healthy diet? Not everyone can farm their food, but on the other hand, we know freshness counts for flavor and nutritional value. Let’s see what can we do that’s easy, small scale and yummy.

Better Knife skills will improve your cooking beyond measure. There’s so much more than just slicing and dicing, and with proper knife techniques, prepping will be easier and quicker. In this hands on class, you’ll learn the basics, plus simple and beautiful garnishes. Learn how to choose a good knife without spending a fortune, and how to keep your knives sharp and well cared for. You’ll leave with recipes and a bounty of chopped produce ready to turn into dinners for the week. Please bring a chef’s knife, a paring knife and a cutting board to class.

Join Master Food Preservers for a hands-on and demonstration style class to learn how to make holiday gifts from the kitchen. Students will go home with a jar of homemade organic sauerkraut and four containers of gourmet herb cooking salts. There will be a demonstration of water bath canning for preserving pumpkin and preparing black cherry forest jam. You’ll see how to make holiday favorites, such as apple pie and snowman coco in a mason jar and will go home with inspiration to create handcrafted gifts in your kitchen for family and friends.

In this demonstration and lecture, Terese will introduce you to her weekly meal prep plan that will simplify week day cooking and get you on track for eating healthy, vibrant meals. Learn her signature building block recipes and then watch her turn them into lunches and dinners for the week. She’ll make a variety of proteins, grains, vegetables and flavorful sauces to create a variety of quick and delicious meals. You will sample each dish prepared.

Learn to make spice rubbed grilled chicken with charred tomato salsa, grilled shrimp with avocado cucumber relish, baby back ribs with honey mustard BBQ sauce, grilled vegetable and goat cheese salad, and grilled peaches with vanilla bean ice cream for dessert. You will sample each dish prepared.
