After-School Programs

Empowerment and Support for Teens

NOTE: All in-person field trips and youth programs are on hold for the 2020–21 school year. In the meantime, we invite your class, group or family to join us for a Virtual Field Trip >> Thank you for your continued support.

Our Roots & Wings after-school programs offer opportunities for youth ages 13 to 18 to deepen their connection to the environment, their health and each other. The programs encompass a broad range of focus areas and allow for adaptation of curriculum based on the needs and passions of the groups. The classes always aim to connect youth to the natural world, build strong relationships, and support teens in healthy transitions toward adulthood. We are devoted to giving every youth the opportunity to learn valuable leadership and life skills while developing positive connections to their community.

Teen Empowerment is an after-school class for young women. Through gardening, cooking and eating together, working with medicinal herbs and plants, making art and exploring the natural world, we teach valuable and enriching life skills while building a supportive community. Through interactions with the land, we aim to empower our students to build inner strength and confidence.

Cook’s Club, offers interactive, hands-on cooking experiences using local produce and organic ingredients. Teens work together to prepare and share dishes that are both tasty and healthy. Our farm-to-fork recipes teach youth where their food comes from and foster an appreciation of healthy ingredients. Dinner is included at each session.
