Are you looking for a hands-on learning opportunity? Join a work and learn session to gain valuable skills and knowledge while working with others on the farm. Classes are 90 mins. Participants are encouraged to bring gloves and wear closed toed shoes.

Note: The first class in the series begins earlier to accommodate shorter daylight hours, with subsequent sessions starting later as the days grow longer.

Preparing your Garden for Spring; Soil Health and Bed Prep
Wednesday, April 1, 5:30-7pm Cancelled due to low registration

Prepare your garden for spring planting by learning about the basics of composting, vermicomposting and no till practices that will enhance the health of your soil and ultimately the plants that grow in it.

What Should I Plant? Starting Your Summer Container Garden
Wednesday, April 15, 6-7:30pm

Learn about the best plants for raised beds, containers and small spaces. Use trellises, companion planting and root vegetables to maximize your space. Walk away with a plan for your space.

Composting and Vermicomposting
Wednesday, April 29, 6-7:30pm

Composting and Vermicomposting are one of the best ways to reduce home waste, while providing rich compost for your plants of all types. In this workshop you will learn the basics of each type of composting. We will look at our backyard size systems and practice feeding, turning and troubleshooting. You will walk away with a plan of attack for your own home compost system.

Attracting Pollinators to Your Garden
Wednesday, May 13, 6-7:30pm

In this class, you’ll learn about the needs of various pollinators and how to create an optimal survival environment in your garden. With the use of California Natives and other flowering plants, you can create a rich ecosystem that serves pollinators of all types. You’ll also have a long season of flowering plants for your own enjoyment. Attracting pollinators will beautify your yard, while supporting their populations. This class will offer hands-on, work and learn opportunities.

Drip Irrigation
Wednesday, May 27, 6-7:30pm

In this drip irrigation class, come learn the basics of building your own system. We will learn about all the necessary parts, look at various systems here at the farm and practice building a few in our raised beds. You will walk away with new confidence, save a lot of money and water, and no longer need to hire help.
