Join us as we take you through the wonderful world of color in the natural world. Colors of all sorts can be found in the foods we eat, the plants we grow and the trees that give us shade. You will discover the joy of your garden and the natural environment around you in a new way, one that could eventually lead you to dyeing with them and making wonderful nature prints, ice prints, bundle prints and many more. Enjoy a walk with us through the gardens at SBF and see what possibilities are at your fingertips as we explore the many natural ways to dye fiber.
We will have fun with a pre-mordanted (i.e. prepared ready for the dye process) fiber for everyone to dye using plants that will be supplied for you, but I encourage you to bring items from your own yard or garden – rose leaves and petals, red and yellow onion skins, eucalyptus leaves, smoke bush leaves, rosemary, dried flowers, oak leaves, ferns to name but a few – the list is endless and it’s going to be of your own creation, so go WILD!
