We’ll cover the basic steps for soup success, and then build on that foundation to keep you interested in preparing and eating soup during the colder months.

Learn how to make true Neapolitan Pizza, using the traditional methods of the pizzaiolos and artisans of Naples, Italy. This hands-on workshop will take you through the essential techniques of formulating and mixing dough from scratch, stretching by hand, topping and then baking in a real brick oven in the heart of the farm. You will make a beautiful and tasty traditional margherita pizza, and a farm fresh pepper & pepperoni. This in-depth workshop will provide an understanding of the science of dough, the culinary philosophies of traditional Neapolitan pizza, and the art of creating gourmet-quality pizza at home.

Candis will discuss the various conditions that can affect the heart and circulation. She will show you ways to help keep the circulation strong and various herbs that can help with regulating the heart as well as herbs for the emotional heart. This is an experiential hands-on class. Many herbs will be sampled and students will make herbal formulas to take home.

Kids will explore the Youth Garden and the American River Ranch learning about seeds, what they are made of, how to grow and care for them and why they are important. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in various fun, educational activities, make a farm fresh snack, meet the farm animals and create something to take home. Suggested ages 3-9. This is a child-focused farm experience. Registration is for children only, one adult may accompany each child.

Traditional medicine views the digestive system as the root of our health. Current science supports this concept, as we continue to understand the complex role of digestive function, including the digestive microbiome, on overall health. This class will focus on building a healthy digestive system through herbs, diet and positive habits. The format will include lecture, hands-on activities, herbal recipes and the materials needed to make herbal preparations to take home.

The class will include lecture, demonstration and hands-on creation of herbal remedies for yourself or for holiday gifts.

This class will delve deeper into the art and science of herbal remedies. We will discuss approaches to combining herbs and effectively extracting medicinal properties and broaden our discussion and practice in making herbal preparations, including creams and advanced tinctures. Students will take home products of their own creation.

This introductory class will cover simple herbal remedies you can make at home, and when and how to use them. We will discuss herbal teas, tinctures, oils, salves, and herbal foods. Participants will practice medicine-preparation techniques and make remedies to take home.

Let’s turn our food and plant waste into something useful. Composting, or the act of breaking down organic matter, is a valuable tool for sustainable living. In this free class, we’ll discuss the basics of how to start, maintain, and harvest compost for your containers, gardens, yards, or community green spaces. Participants who are Rancho Cordova residents will receive a free composting bin (one per family) after showing proof of residency. All participants will be entered into a raffle to win prizes.
