Hike along the American River Parkway to learn about seasonal changes in our local flora and fauna. Reconnect, build awareness and share the joy and wonders of the natural world together. Enjoy a small picnic in the shade with fresh fall fruit provided by the farm. This program is designed for youth (ages 5 through 18) and accompanying adults.

Celebrate spring in the garden with hands on projects the whole family can do together. Youth and adults will build small planter boxes to take home, learn how to build healthy soil, sow seeds and transplant plants. We will enjoy a fresh snack from the farm with herbal sun tea. This program is designed for youth (ages 5 through 18) and accompanying adults.

This workshop is designed for backyard beekeepers interested in learning intermediate level skills. There’s no prerequisite knowledge required, but it will be more advanced than an introductory level workshop. We will have a short lecture and group learning style introduction to topics and then an apiary tour with open hive inspection with practical, hands on skills to move you to the next level of beekeeping.

Our drop-in 60-minute yoga class is held every Wednesday at 8am.*Meet in the Outdoor Theatre located across from the Schoolhouse. This class is open to all levels. Bring your own yoga mat and water bottle. Summer Ward has been a long-time supporter and teacher at Soil Born Farms. Her teaching is grounded in nature. The classes will be a blend of breath work and intentional movement. Her style is intuitive and accommodating to all who attend. Suggested donation is $10. Pay instructor. No one turned away for lack of funds. See you there!

Meet the animals, dig in the dirt, smell herbs and taste fresh fruits and vegetables.  Using stories, songs, crafts, and games, our youngest campers will learn about our farm while enjoying playful, fun-filled mornings. For campers entering pre-K – Kindergarten, suggested ages 4-6. Note: This camp runs from 9-11am.

Enjoy the bounty of this land by harvesting, cooking, and eating healthy and delicious food together every day! Learn basic nutrition, kitchen and knife safety, explore the garden and farm, and meet new friends.

Youth will explore the intersection of art and nature during their week at Soil Born Farms where beauty abounds! From natural dyes to pine paint brushes, participants will craft and create using nature’s gifts.

Participants in this camp may choose to volunteer as Counselors in Training (CIT) during the day camps that follow. Youth will learn how to lead groups of youth safely around the farm and river, teach gardening and environmental education, cook with kids and more. CIT’s will connect with peers and youth, gain leadership and job skills while earning community service hours.

Learn about building fire and shelter, edible wild foods, how to stay safe in nature and more! The week’s activities will culminate with an overnight option to camp-out on Friday night and a game of capture the flag. (additional fees apply for the overnight option.)
