Every season at the American River Ranch is unique and beautiful. We have planned a day of activities the whole family will enjoy including a pop-up Farmstand in the barn with fresh-from-the-field winter vegetables.

Tours, Walks & Classes

Volunteer Activities • 9:30am to 12:45pm
Field Days: Interested in a new way to get fit and work up a sweat? Experience a day in the life of a farmer. Help with seasonal tasks and learn about the daily work required to maintain an organic farm. Activities for Feb. 24:
•Early spring planting
•Spring cleanup in the veggie fields (weeding)
•Preparing the orchard for spring (mulching)

Pop-Up Farmstand • 9am to 3pm
Visit us in the barn and take home: Lettuce: Romaine lettuce, Red Gem lettuce, Green Leaf lettuce heads, Red Butter lettuce heads, Green butter lettuce heads; Chicories: Frisee, Escarole, Bulk mixed chicories; Greens: Fava Greens, Red Russian kale, Dino kale, Rainbow chard, Green Cabbage, January King Cabbage, Red Napa cabbage, Piracicaba brocollini, Belstar broccoli crowns, Brussels sprouts; Roots: Loose beets, red radishes; Alliums: Spring onions, green garlic, scallions; Herbs: parsley, rosemary; Misc: Small kohlrabi, fennel, white celery, grapefruit, culinary herb starts and practical gifts.

Phoebe’s Tea & Snack Bar • 9am to 3pm
Delicious Magpie baked goods, organic coffee, herb tea and warm beverages.

Culinary Arts Demonstrations • 9am to 1pm
Eat Your Veggies: Learn how to prepare seasonal produce in simple and delicious ways. Recipes and nutritional information will be available.

Peasants’ Lunch Fundraiser • 11:30am to 2pm
A simple lunch prepared by the Culinary Arts team of soup, salad, bread and a cookie will be served at the Farmhouse Kitchen. $7 donation.

Fun for Kids • 9am to 3pm • FREE
Kids’ Activity Tent in the Barn: Make coffee filter butterflies and flowers.
Enchanted Garden: Calling all fairies, elves, gnomes and nature spirits: follow the signs, come play and explore. Build fairy and gnome homes, construct a toad abode and create a magical fairy door to take home.

Live Music: Millington Strings • 10am to 1pm
Our favorite string quartet plays a broad repertoire of classical and popular music.
