Designed for beginning gardeners, the Grow Your Groceries Beginning Home Gardener Course will cover the essential topics to help the new gardener create and maintain a thriving, abundant edible organic garden.  Combining presentations, interactive demonstrations and hands-on activities, this class will give you the knowledge and confidence to get out and grow food for you and your family.

Topics include:

  • Garden Design & Seasonality
  • Building Healthy Soil
  • Prep & Plant Your Garden
  • Water and Irrigation
  • Garden Ecology & Pest Management
  • Growing Herbs and Perennials

Instructor: Daylin Wade, Herbalist and Community Educator

Location: American River Ranch, 2140 Chase Drive, Rancho Cordova in the Schoolhouse and outside.

Course Fee: $195/$175 before February 27

Notes: Please wear closed-toed shoes and weather-appropriate work clothes. Bring gardening gloves, a hat, and a snack, if desired.  We recommend bringing a binder for the course packet and note taking.  A flashlight is recommended for the walk from the classroom to the parking lot, as it will be dark by the end of class during the first half of the course.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellation requests can be made until one week prior to the first class (March 14, 2017) for a full refund minus a $25 administrative fee.  We cannot provide refunds for  cancellation requests made after March 14, but we will allow you to send someone in your place with advanced notification.
