Designed for beginning gardeners, the Grow Your Groceries Beginning Home Gardener Course will cover the essential topics to help the new gardener create and maintain a thriving, abundant edible organic garden. Combining indoor presentations and interactive demonstrations and hands-on activities, this class will give you the knowledge and confidence to get out and grow food for you and your family. Course topics include garden design and seasonality, building healthy soil, garden preparation and planting, water and irrigation, garden ecology and pest control and growing herbs and perennials.

Location: American River Ranch in the Schoolhouse and Garden, 2140 Chase Drive, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670
Notes: Please wear closed-toed shoes and weather-appropriate work clothes. Bring gardening gloves, a hat, and a snack, if desired. We recommend bringing a binder for the course packet and note taking. A flashlight is recommended for the walk from the classroom to the parking lot, as it will be dark by the end of class during the last half of the course.
Cancellation Policy: Cancellation requests can be made until one week prior to the first class (August 29, 2017) for a full refund minus a $25 administrative fee. We cannot provide refunds for cancellation requests made after August 29, but we will allow you to send someone in your place with advanced notification.
