How to Freeze Figs

Ingredients:

If you have more figs than you can use quickly and don’t feel like making fig preserves, you can freeze them for up to six months and use them in smoothies, cooked sauces or baked goods. Here are two different ways to freeze figs:

Directions:

Individual, Quick-freeze Method

  1. Wash figs thoroughly and pat dry.
  2. Leave whole or quarter figs and space them out on a wax-paper-lined baking sheet in the freezer.
  3. When they are completely frozen, transfer to freezer bags.

Sugared Freezer Method

  1. Peel and quarter or slice figs.
  2. Combine with sugar (1 cup sugar to 5 cups fruit).
  3. Pack and freeze in tightly covered freezer containers.
