After-School Programs

Empowerment and Support for Teens

Our Roots & Wings after-school programs offer opportunities for youth ages 14 to 18 to deepen their connection to the environment, their health and each other. The programs encompass a broad range of focus areas and allow for adaptation of curriculum based on the needs and passions of the groups. The classes always aim to connect youth to the natural world, build strong relationships, and support teens in healthy transitions toward adulthood. We are devoted to giving every youth the opportunity to learn valuable leadership and life skills while developing positive connections to their community.

Teen Empowerment is an opportunity for young adults ages 14-18 to participate in professional development while encouraging self reflection, connection to one another and the natural world through hands-on practical experiences. This program will build community and support teens in healthy transitions toward adulthood. Through interactions with the land, we aim to empower young adults to build inner strength and confidence as well as learn valuable leadership and life skills. The program will be flexible and adapted to meet the interests and passions of the group. Activities include learning to care for plants in the greenhouse, cultivating farm beds, harvesting herbs and flowers, cooking with fresh produce, developing job application and communication skills, practicing environmental stewardship and learning about self reflection and mindfulness.
