Master Plan

History and Key Projects Planned and/or Completed for the Site

In 2012, Soil Born Farms completed a Master Plan for the American River Ranch that was approved by the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors. This plan details the broader vision for a public property that had been farmed privately for most of its long history and had not been accessible to the public. The master plan provides narrative and a broader overview describing how this rare property will look, feel and function over time. One overarching goal for the site is to encourage exploration and hands-on learning, helping our community to reawaken their relationship with food and the earth that sustains us all. This is accomplished through the integration of unique built environments (indoor and outdoor) and natural landscapes that help blend the farm environment into the river ecosystem of the American River.
