Exploring the Wonders of Nature
Ready for a farm adventure? Youth ages 6-11 are encouraged to join us on the 1st Saturday of the month in experiencing Soil Born Farms as you explore, investigate, taste, make and garden. Each Saturday has a unique focus that will offer students new learning experiences, opportunities to make new friends and a chance for them to connect with the outdoor world.
Parents are encouraged to enjoy a relaxing morning on the farm, listen to live music, meet friends for coffee at Phoebe’s, take a walk or class, shop for produce and plants or drop off their kids and have three hours to themselves on Saturday morning. This can be a good option for siblings, play dates or scout troops. This three hour experience requires pre-registration and parents must sign a waiver.
Just for Kids: Flower Power
Saturday, June 7, 9:00am-12:00pm
Come celebrate flowers. This is the season that Soil Born is Bloomin’. We will make our own beautiful flower presses and unique bouquets that include herbs, grasses and flowers. We will also look for the creatures that are enjoying the flowers and learn more about the amazing native bees that visit our flowers. If time allows we will seed our own 6 pack of flowers to create a beautiful flower garden at home.
Just for Kids: Busy Bees in the Garden
Saturday, August 2, 9:00am-12:00pm
Why do bees always have sticky hair? Because they use a honey-comb! Seriously folks, kids ages 6-11 will enjoy interactive songs, games, and activities in the Youth Garden as we learn all about native bees and honeybees. Students will do honey tasting, as well as make native bee shelters for Winter protection plus join in on fun games and other bee related activities designed to keep them engaged while learning!
Just for Kids: Lightning Bug Fireworks
Saturday, September 6, 9:00am-12:00pm
Join us at the farm as we explore all the wonderful and exciting ways insects help keep our garden alive and bountiful. During the class kids 6-11 will learn how to identify some insect friends and their habitats as well as how to collect and observe them safely.
