Digestive problems are so prevalent these days. Find out about the herbs, foods and lifestyle practices that will help to strengthen digestion, ease gas, burning and bloating and help you to enjoy eating without accompanying discomfort. We will be sampling many herbs and formulas in this class. You will learn herbal recipes that are easy to make and useful for every day.
Kids will explore the Youth Garden and the American River Ranch learning about what soil is made of, who lives in it, and how it helps us. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in various fun, educational activities, make a farm fresh snack, meet the farm animals and create something to take home. Suggested ages 3-9. This is a child-focused farm experience. Registration is for children only, one adult may accompany each child.
Learn about local native plants and the benefits of gardening with California native plants. They are drought tolerant, low maintenance, beautiful and attract wildlife. Elderberry Farms grow about 120 different local native plant species. Come and see some favorite plants that make appearances in Yosemite, Zion, Great Basin, Bryce, Mesa Verde National Parks as well as the American River Parkway.

You will learn the practical applications of essential oils used in conjunction with household items such as clay, cornstarch, vinegar, salt, and more. There will be a discussion and demonstration on how to make an aromatherapy first aid kit and how to make your own natural cleaning products.
Join Master Food Preservers for a demonstration style class for beginners to food preservation. There will be a demonstration of water bath canning for citrus marmalade, lemon curd, spiced orange jelly and oranges in light syrup. You will also learn how to make candied orange peels. The instructors will answer your questions and show you the step by step process for each recipe. You’ll go home with the basics of food preservation techniques and with recipes for each demo.
