We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Soil Born Farms and Hacker Lab are teaming up together to offer a fun, innovative technology class for home gardeners.  This class will teach people to use some of the great new electronic devices available for personal use.  You will learn the basics on how to program a WiFi enabled arduino, using simple plug and play coding libraries, to read the data from a moisture or temperature sensor for use in a home garden or greenhouse.  You will also learn to trigger activities with the arduino, such as switching on a watering system using data from the sensors.  Take this fun class to learn the basics on how to create and install your own garden sensor system.

We’ll prepare the basic building block base recipes in this fun and lively hands-on class. Bring your take home containers and leave with a bounty of prepped and cooked vegetables, healthy prepared grains, delicious organic chicken, blanched greens, savory legumes, two homemade sauces to round out your meals and washed and ready to use salad greens. Eating healthy has never been so easy or delicious! Learn strategies to prep once for healthy meals all week and simplify your life. The class is offered every month with new seasonal recipes. Class Includes a light lunch.

Autumn is a wonderful time to focus on boosting overall health and addressing challenges such as exhaustion and low immunity during the cold/flu season and springtime allergies. This class will introduce the plant remedies growing around us this time of year, and how to support the body and mind with herbs, diet, and habits as we transition into the cooler, darker months. The format will include lecture and hands-on activities indoors and outdoors. We will share a seasonal dinner which incorporates many of the ideas discussed in the class.

Summer is the time to start planning your fall garden. Sacramento has a perfect climate for growing a wide variety of vegetables all year. You will learn about seasonal crops, fall garden tasks and how to ensure your garden is productive. We’ll talk about turning over summer crops, and how to think about the changing sunlight in autumn. This class will be a combination of lecture and hands-on gardening.
