We’ve planned an inspiring weekend for you! Network with like-minded teachers, parents, garden designers, community leaders, school garden coordinators, and others involved with helping kids make the connection between food, health and the environment. This year we will aim to discover ways to increase equity and access through school gardens. Learn and discuss ways to grow culturally representative crops, prepare ethnic recipes using garden produce and design systems that use the naturally diverse and unique learning environment of a school garden. Workshops will include curriculum, garden design, cooking, planting plans, art ideas and garden sustainability. Support our mission to have a garden in every school while you attend workshops, participate in hands-on experiences, network, eat delicious food and connect with local organizations.

This class is cancelled due to low enrollment. A Garden in Every School Symposium is March 14 & 15 at Soil Born Farms! Workshops, Student-Led Projects, Hands-On Experiences, Information Booths, Delicious Food. Registration will open in December.Would you like to build or enhance a school garden on your campus? This one-day intensive for school garden educators will help you consider the best design for your space that will serve students and teachers while creating a dynamic and healthy ecosystem. Learn the nuts and bolts of irrigation, plant selection, needed materials, signage ideas, curriculum resources and more. Come prepared to collaborate and create.

This is a hands-on workshop that will help you manage and facilitate your garden space well. You will learn to use the produce in your garden, create signage, play educational games and facilitate engaging activities. Come in your work clothes.

This class is cancelled due to low enrollment. Check out School Garden Games, Recipes, Signage and Education Tools class which is on Tuesday, August 20 – Wednesday, August 21. Practice 4 NGSS aligned units that can be used in partnership with a school garden or outdoor learning space. You will practice activities, prepare the materials, learn games, and be challenged to use your critical thinking in the process.

What do I plant in the school garden? Which lessons are best for each season? What do I share with others to get funding? This workshop will answer all your questions. You will work on plans that relate to curriculum, planting, and funding. It will be fun and engaging while setting you and your school garden program on the path to success and sustainability.

Attract pollinators of all types to your garden through planning and stewardship. Teach students about the process of pollination and the unique creatures that are critical to our food supply. Learn about a student-led project that relates to native bees. You will leave this workshop BUZZING with excitement. Join us for happy hour and networking after the workshop.

Check out the next teacher training, A-Buzz With Life, Bringing Pollinators to Your School Garden.Learn about 4 simple and seasonal recipes that can be used with kids in the classroom or garden setting. We will also review basic items that will create success while cooking with students including tools and basic ingredient kits. We will prepare all 4 recipes and then eat together at the end.

This workshop, for teachers, educators, and volunteers, will look at 12 plants that attract pollinators, stimulate the senses, provide edible treats for students, have herbal uses and create beautiful environments in your school gardens. We will touch, taste and create with these plants. It will be hands-on and engaging. Join us for happy hour and networking after the workshop.

Discover how to make beautiful succulent wreaths while making your own to take home. You will learn how to prepare cuttings, how to care for your wreath to keep it beautiful year after year and how to use different design principles to create a wreath that can be hung up or used as a holiday centerpiece. Students should bring a hot glue gun and 5-10 glue sticks.
